Lost Person Behavior by Robert J. Koester

This book is written as a kind of field-manual for search and rescue planners. (In charge of the effort to locate a missing mountain biker? Turn to page 214.) But even as a non-professional, it still made for a fascinating read. It starts with a discussion of what it means, exactly, to be lost, then drills into the sometimes surprising behaviors that make each type of lost person unique.
